Stephen King: racist?

People of color speak a lot of "jive" and are also characters of bizarre wisdom in Stephen King works.  Some examples:  The Stand, The Green Mile, The Dark Tower, and likely several others that don't immediately spring to mind.  Shawshank Redemption doesn't count because in the book the character Red that was portrayed by Morgan Freeman in the film was white.

  1. He's a racist.

Stephen King uses the ‘N’ word where another word would suffice. Here is a list of the novels and story collections he’s written in which the dreaded ‘N’ word appears, often quite unnecessarily:

    1. Carrie

    2. The Shining

    3. Night Shift

    4. Different Seasons

    5. Christine

    6. Skeleton Crew

    7. It

    8. Misery

    9. The Green Mile (understandable in this case)

    10. Bag of Bones (understandable in this case)

    11. Duma Key

    12. Under The Dome

    13. Nightmares & Dreamscapes (which I haven’t finished because it got boring)

    14. The Long Walk (published under the Richard Bachman pseudonym)

I distinctly recall an interview with Stephen King published in Time magazine many years ago, in which the author stated, when asked a certain questions, “That’s like asking someone how it feels to be a Black nigger.” I actually stopped reading his works for a long time after seeing that article.
